Towards Integrated Oncology Diagnosis: Artificial Intelligence as the Backbone

Oncology is entering a new era

For a long time, radiology, anatomical pathology, molecular biology, and clinical data have advanced in silos. However, given the increasing complexity of treatment pathways and the massive arrival of artificial intelligence, this fragmentation is no longer acceptable. To respond to the oncological emergency, we must develop a deeply integrated approach to diagnosis.

This integration is not only possible today, but also essential. Radiology has been digital for a long time. Digital pathology is rapidly gaining ground. Molecular biology produces structured data of unprecedented richness. And AI now provides a common grammar capable of connecting these worlds.

Now is the ideal time to reinvent the diagnostic continuum

Connecting CT scans, MRIs, histological slides, biomarkers, genomics, and longitudinal patient data. A single, unified platform capable of producing and distributing multimodal AI solutions covering both imaging and anatomic pathology—two deeply intertwined disciplines.

AI is not an additional layer

It becomes the backbone of this integrated diagnosis. It makes it possible to correlate heterogeneous data, identify weak signals, make analyses more reliable, accelerate decisions, and finally pave the way for personalized medicine on a large scale.

But AI can only deliver on its promises if the infrastructure that supports it is interoperable, robust, and consistent.

It is precisely with this vision in mind that Tribun Health and Incepto Medical have decided to combine their expertise to offer clinicians, integrators, and institutions a truly unified digital environment:

  • Seamless integration of radiological images and digital pathology slides
  • AI orchestrations combining multiple modalities
  • Technical foundation capable of accommodating today's and tomorrow's algorithms

This convergence opens up immense potential. It is already evident in several areas:

  1. Early cancer screening (breast, lung, prostate) assisted by AI on a population scale. The AICOO project, won by a consortium led by Incepto Medical as part of a large national call for proposals, perfectly illustrates this dynamic: clinical, imaging, and histology play a crucial role in structuring patient care through a unified digital platform, facilitating the care pathway and enabling the deployment of reliable and consistent AI tools.
  2. Therapeutic research, both academic and industrial. The ability to combine clinical, biological, histological, and radiological data with AI tools makes it possible to generate new predictive and prognostic biomarkers. This integration removes one of the major barriers to personalized medicine.

RSNA 2025 in Chicago reinforced this conviction. Everywhere, the same dynamic: breaking down silos, connecting disciplines, simplifying workflows, and fully exploiting multimodality. The discussions we had clearly show that the future of oncology lies in this unification of tools and practices.

We are convinced that the future lies not in a juxtaposition of solutions, but in the construction of an integrated diagnostic continuum, where radiologists, pathologists, oncologists, biologists, and data scientists work on the same information, at the same time, for the benefit of the patient.

This vision is no longer theoretical: it is already becoming a reality. And it calls for collective action. Integrated diagnosis is not an option: it is a prerequisite for transforming cancer care in the long term and bringing our healthcare systems into the future.
